Federation Hill Challenge

Start Location: Julia Ronan Park (next to Felltimber Community Centre), Melrose Drive, West Wodonga

Course Description:

All runs run around Federation Hill in an anti clockwise direction. Please read the notes and look at the map.

Long Course: .The medium course starts in Julia Ronan Park and follows the underpass under Felltimber Creek Road towards Federation Hill. Following the sealed ath, it crosses three minor roads before turning left into the Sundew fire trail at the base of Fed Hill. Runners continue straight past the Tussock Track, then turn right into the Carex Track and climb to the crest of Fed Hill. Continue along the crest of Fed Hill with great views towards Wodonga, passing the Kangaroo Track and climbing to the very top of Federation Hill. Then follow the Blue Bell track off the ridge, down the hill, rejoining the Sundew fire trail. Turn left.

After running along a dirt road for a few hundred metres, emerge briefly onto McGaffins Road, then bear left and into a culvert that passes under Felltimber Creek road. Climb out the other side and onto the Ridge Walking Track.

Runners then do a clockwise circuit around Klinge’s Hill and McFarlane’s Hill before returning to the Ridge Walking Track, back under Felltimber Creek Road, and back up McGaffins Road to the Sundew Fire Trail.

Continue straight ahead past the base of the Kangaroo Track, turn right, then left, onto the path and return to Julia Ronan Park.

Medium Course: The medium course starts in Julia Ronan Park and follows the underpass under Felltimber Creek Road towards Federation Hill. Following the sealed ath, it crosses three minor roads before turning left into the Sundew fire trail at the base of Fed Hill. Runners continue straight past the Tussock Track, then turn right into the Carex Track and climb to the crest of Fed Hill. Continue along the crest of Fed Hill with great views towards Wodonga, passing the Kangaroo Track and climbing to the very top of Federation Hill. Then follow the Blue Bell track off the ridge, down the hill, turning right and rejoining the Sundew fire trail. After passing the base of the Kangaroo Track, turn right, then left, onto the path and return to Julia Ronan Park.

Short Course: The short course starts in Julia Ronan Park and follows the underpass under Felltimber Creek Road towards Federation Hill. Following the sealed ath, it crosses three minor roads before turning left into the Sundew fire trail at the base of Fed Hill. Runners turn right and climb up the Tussock Track to the crest of Fed Hill, the Carex Track. Then another right turn and descend down the Kangaroo Track, rejoining the Sundew fire trail. Turn right, then left, onto the path and return to Julia Ronan Park.
